This is the 4th year in a row that we have stayed at Ecclesden farm. It has become a fixture of the family calendar. We really like the location and surrounding area that the farm offers.
The facilities are simple but do the job and the owners are very friendly and accommodating and relaxed. The fact there are no set pitches for tents is a bonus as you can always find a quiet spot.
There are plenty of short walks from the site that offer views of the coast. We also find the site is great for children as there is penty of space for them to play and the goats are great entertainment for them.
In the evening the site is very peaceful. We will certainly be returning again for another relaxing weekend with all the family. We almost didn't want to post this as we don't want it to get too crowded but the site deserves credit!

Site: The site consists of what appears to be two fields with toilet/showers in an old barn and a separate portable cabin with some additional toilets.
The pitches are a decent size and you get plenty of space between you and your neighbour. Ground was a bit uneven but no stones etc. Easy access to the electric hook up. Owners were very friendly and gave us a useful information sheet and showed us to our pitch. There is a bit of road noise from nearby which some may find annoying.
The site was full when we were there and the somewhat tired facilities were a bit overwhelmed by the volume of people. There is one male shower which is in need of an update and with the level of use was not the nicest place to be.
Lots of great places to eat and drink in the local area and we had a great meal at The Fox nearby. There is a Millets in Worthing should you need anything and the chippy in Angmereing is excellent. Arundel is nice for a visit and seek out the Black Rabbit for a nice riverside drink.

Excellent site, with some stunning views. Nice easy walk to great pub, 'The Spotted Cow'. Toilet and shower block perfectly adequate. The owners are very friendly and helpful, lovely people.
Fantastic site for exploring West Sussex like Arundel Castle, Worthing, Brighton and Littlehampton. We were booked in for 8 nights from the 15/07/11, however, due to excessive high winds, we left on the 18th as the tent was getting more and more damaged.
The owners were very gracious and extremely understanding about our plight. If the weather looks like being windy on your visit, try and book a pitch on the 'Cottage' or 'Cub' fields as these are far more sheltered.
A great campsite at an excellent price. Will definitely make a return trip.

This is a cheap site in a beautiful location. The owners were very welcoming, however, the facilities are very basic. There are two toilets and two showers in the ladies', with one toilet, one shower and two urinals in the men's.
There are three washing up sinks. There were notices stating that the hot water was limited, but that was not our experience. There was always sufficient hot water, but the site was not full.
There is a book swap service with info about the local area and a free fridge/freezer in a hut by the entrance. The fees you pay by envelope that you put in the front door of the farmhouse.
There are three fields. We were on the Cub Field with two other units. We were allowed to have our units facing each other, with a gazebo in the middle (gazebo securely pegged and guyed down) with numerous windbreaks.
This may have been as the site was not full. We had children with us and the field was big enough for them to play in the middle. There is no specific play area.
The electric worked fine and there was a tap near our pitches. There are a couple of fields nearby that you are allowed to walk around where you have an even better view of the area.
We would go back, but again only for a weekend as the facilities were a little too basic for us. The toilets were very far from our pitch and you needed a torch in the middle of the night.
The pitches were a little bumpy, too. We would recommend the site to anyone. When reviewing the facilities we did have to bear in mind the value for money that this site offers.

This is a very pleasant and picturesque site.
There are many facilities and attractions in the area. We went to look at the utterly amazing chapel of Lancing college. The best rock can be bought in a shop on the Bognor Regis waterfront. Chichester is also a very charming town to visit and is not too far away.
The facilities on the site was perfectly adequate and clean enough, if a bit muddy when we were there.
What is so lovely about this site is that it is very big, yet there are pretty views all around and it is very sheltered. We had a very peaceful time and we were very sorry to leave.
You are allowed to leave your food in a fridge at the entrance, which we found very helpful as I like cooking in my tent.

I have been coming here for many years such a lovely place. Shower block does get a little cold morning and evening, best time to shower is afternoons.
Very clean and ample facilities, lovely caretaker who you can report problems to, you can identify site staff as they wear a badge. Heather the secretary and the camp booking person was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Very friendly owners and helpful. Very limited noise. Great walks and views. Short walk to village and spotted cow pub.
Overall it was a pleasant and great place will definitely go again.

A very friendly and helpful owner, straight forward and realistic pricing structure without a host of add-ons, a choice of 2 large and 1 small fields set in pleasant surroundings with some excellent walks on the doorstep. Another benefit is that there’s no 2 night weekend minimum/ 3 night bank holiday.
My only concern, (not evidenced as it wasn’t busy, ) is the apparent small number of loo facilities – 1 male urinal, sitter and shower - although I did see a portaloo (closed) which may help a little.
However it has 3 covered washing up sinks with limited (their words) hot water. The ground is good for tent pegs but being on a hill, wind maybe a problem, (a common hazard after my cooking but I digress…) £12 covers car, tent, 2 adults and 3 children – no charges for gazebo’s, dogs or extra cars.
It used to be an open fire site but no longer, although they have a plentiful supply of large bricks to keep your chukka’s off the ground – do return the bricks though. Some great walks including into the local village and it’s close to the sea and other interesting locations.
In all, an excellent site, perfect for our 1 or 2 night last minute trips although I’d suggest booking in advance during the peak season as it is a popular site.

Our first time camping and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Site owners very friendly and helpful. Plenty of space for our pitch even though it was a bank holiday.
No excessive noise which was a plus factor. Facilities perfectly adequate and cleaned regularly, we always managed a hot shower and there was always loo roll available.
We took our dog and there are plenty of really nice walks around the site. Village short distance away with pub and small Co-op which stocked everything.
We shall return.

Just returned from our first visit to Ecclesden for the year. We love this site for it's location, space, and direct access onto Highdown.
Whilst the facilities have always been basic and this is reflected in the fairly reasonable price (£15 inc EHU), I do feel that a few hours and a few pennies should be spent in the shower block. Luckily having the motorhome I didn't have to use them, but yesterday popped in and saw mould on the walls, shelf (where you'd put your toothbrush), mouldy shower curtains that wouldn't inspire anyone to take a shower, and toilet cubicle doors that wouldn't shut let alone lock (presumably swelled in the winter months?).

We had a lovely time staying at this site in the last few days of their season. What a shame they are not open all year.
We did not use electric hookup but it is available.
Late as it was we were the only people there for most of our stay and my daughter and her friend had the whole field to run and play in. There were cows in some of the fields too and the girls enjoyed watching them and feeding them grass through the fence.
The site is very close to Highdown hill (a 2 minute walk!), and the house, gardens and tea room there, as well as a pub for food.
There is another nice pub in Angmering itself, over a footbridge, and one at Patching, all very close.
Could be windy as the site is high up but there are trees that break up the wind and we had no problems. Lovely views accross Highdown to the sea. Don't forget to walk up the highpoint, the old earthworks/fort and check out the Miller's Tomb and the rumours surrounding it.
The toilet block was basic but clean and perfectly adequate.
There is a shed on site with books for sale/swap and leaflets for local attractions. The managers of the site ate very friendly and helpful.
A nice site that will be sure to use again.

Very pleasant and amenable site with functionable facilities that meet the needs of this deceptively large site.
No shop on site but they do stock gas and the next village is a very nice 10 minute walk through a lovely footpath.
On the top of the site is a National Trust area, Highdown Hill, that offers fantastic views over the sea and surrounding towns.
Most of the walks are well planned out and very accessible. Plenty of wildlife around and we spotted a few birds of prey and lots of grouse.
All in all this was a pleasant stay and gave us the opportunity to try out our motorhome, we just bought.

A truly wonderful campsite. It was our first camping adventure with 3 young children, although I have camped as a child myself!
The site large and the tents were spaced out really well. Toilets and showers were very clean despite being very busy during bank holiday weekend. Owners very helpful ans friendly. Great information given on where to find shops, places to visit, even doctors and take away! felt very safe for the kids. Everyone respected the quiet times and was a very relaxing weekend.
There was the opportunity to have electricity for caravans. Their website is very useful and emails were replied to promptly.
Amazing value for money. Will definitely go again and can't recommend highly enough

We booked last minute and for £10 pounds a night we were weren't expecting things to be as good as they were. Although there are only two womens showers and one mans they were very very clean as were the toilets, there is only one place to do your washing up but once you realise these things you use the facilities when you know they are not going to be busy. The lady that runs it is so nice and friendly. We went with another family so had four children the field was huge but quite enclosed so felt very safe for them. There is a fridge freezer for campers to use in the shed reception, as the terminitor said 'i'll be back' there are no frills just good old fashioned camping at its basics with a good atmosphere. And its within easy range of any coastal towns and easy access to the main a road I would recommend this site to anyone

We have just come back from an unfortunately wet weekend at Ecclesden Farm. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night, and had 2 tents with 3 adults and 2 children.
We booked ahead, and Heather dealt with my e-mails - great communication. The very reasonable price of £10 per unit per night, and it's location to Littlehampton were what drew us here. They allowed gazebos for no extra charge, and wish we'd brought one!
We were met by a very friendly chap who asked us to sign in and then put us in the lower field behind the farm house. There was masses of room, and the field was wide, with most people camping around this edge. This left plenty of room for ball games and for the children to run around. A bit of a trek to the loos though!
The facilities were basic, with a main block holding 2 loos and 2 showers for the ladies, and a separate portakabin with more loos (didn't go in and check this, as didn't have to wait in the main block). Can't comment on the men's facilities. There was only one sink for washing up, which meant an inevitable queue. The washing up water was barely warm, but not the end of the world! We didn't use the showers as were there for a short time (and were being true campers!), but would suggest showering in the evening as plenty of people queuing in the morning.
There was some noise from the nearby road, particularly motorbikes racing at silly o'clock, but having camped many times before I always take earplugs!
We went to both Arundel and Littlehampton on the Saturday, both were a short car ride away.
We would definitely use this campsite again. It had a lovely family atmosphere and the owners were very laid back - we were to leave payment in an envelope and hand it back to them before we left!

Our first family camping experience was due to take place over 2 nights, however, we only managed one night due to the weather.
Really nice no frills site and excellent value for money.
We stayed right at the bottom of the main field, so it was a bit of a trek to use the facilities in the rain, but it meant that it was nice and quiet, even from a tent of teenagers next door! There was some noise near the top of the field well after midnight, but I only heard it whilst on the way to the toilets so it did not bother us.
Facilities were very basic but always clean. Of the 3 ladies toilets only one had a lock, which I don't consider acceptable. Didn't use the showers due to such a short stay, and we washed up in our tent so did not use the washing up area either. Didn't appreciate my 7yo son experiencing a man being violently ill in the toilets either, but that is certainly no fault of the site, maybe he could have locked a door and not had so much to drink.
Kids had a whale of a time, and were very disappointed to go home early. I think we will use the site again, due to being only an hour from home and next time hope for better weather!
