We had a lovely chilled-out 2 days in our motorhome at Damson Field. If you are looking for peace and quiet then look no further. We had a very generous pitch for our motorhome, with sweeping views across to Bodiam castle.
Terry, Lynda and Nathan were very friendly and welcoming and were always on hand when needed. The site was secure, clean and tidy and easy to access.
Facilities are very basic with just a fresh water standpipe, compost toilets and a bowl on a table to wash in. This did not bother us however, as we had our own facilities.
We had a lovely meal in The castle Inn which is only about a 30 minute walk from the campsite. Feeling very full afterwards and not looking forward to the walk back we were lucky enough to get on a bus which dropped us off right outside the campsite.
We would certainly recommend Damson Field if you are looking for a peaceful camping experience and we are looking forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Very friendly campsite - small and quiet - just what we wanted. Good location and great sunsets! Facilities are simple, but clean.
I would recommend this to anyone who would like a quiet spot to pitch a tent.

The site is a lovely hay field, the owners are friendly and helpful but not overly intrusive, wood and a burner provided if you want a real fire.
It is in a good location just north of Hastings- 20 min drive.
There is fresh running on tap and 4 porta loos-clean
Planning to go again.

Peaceful, friendly and calm.
Right from the start with booking via email with Lynda (they are looking at creating a booking website to ease to load on Lynda) through to the warm welcome from Terry and the calm and relax departure date nothing is too much trouble. There are no problems, there are easy solutions and the owners will bend over backwards to help where they can.
I travelled with my 2 young boys and we stayed in a tent. The site is a little hidden and we did mistake the place for someone's stable and land before spying a tent in the corner of my eye. So be warned, the entrance is easily missed but once you've past it, you will realise!
As soon as we drove in, wow and a sense of peace came over me. The view for the site is lovely and you can watch the sun rise and set, plus at the top of the site you can see Bodiam castle.
The site is one field which had the middle cut for hay and round three lengths of the field they have cut the pitches with plenty of room for your tent and car and lots of space between each other. When we arrived the site had a sudden "attack" of flying ants. Nothing anyone can do about that but on our arrival the owner mentioned this and did say if they become a problem they will come and help everyone to move their tents further away from the trees into the field, but we stayed in the designated area.
The site is basic and you must go there with this understanding. There are 4 portaloos, 2 male and 2 female which are cleaned regularly. There is a standpipe for water and their washing up area is a wooden table against the barn with a big metal tub. No shower facilities. No frills and wonderful! As a family we are self sufficient having our own shower and loo but as the portaloos were cleaned regularly we ended up using these instead of our loo (there is no waste disposal facility). For showering we just erected a utility tent and done our thing in there!
Everyone is friendly on site, my boys were on water duty and our water trolley broke. Thankfully a fellow camper jumped to the rescue with his magic keyring! The feeling there is we are all there for the same thing and help each other when and where we can. That is what I call camping at a good site.
The middle of the field is a good place for kids to run around but is on a hill so not really great for ball games, unless you are that energetic! Cross the field and your on a footpath that goes through an apple orchard, a wooded area which was the old orchard, through a horse's field and a little bit further you will be at bodiam castle. You also have Hastings, camber, bewl water and bedgebury just a drive away. There is a local shop about 5 minutes drive who are very friendly and well stocked up with ice cream which was a must in 30+ degrees.
The site will supply you with a fire pit (old wheel) at no extra charge and a bucket of water for stray fires. Small logs and kindling is available to buy direct. One of the men that works there (sorry never caught your name) comes round to deliver your fire and logs and goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasurable. So nice to stay where everyone are happy too.
On leaving day there is no pressure. The aim is to leave at 12pm, but as long as you are reasonable or have arranged a later departure all is good with no pressure.
The only downside to this site is your rubbish. You must take this home and dispose of as there are no bins. But this is not a huge issue for us and had to put this as I know some don't like that idea!
Will definitely be visiting again and hope the ants would of gone by then! Also hope this little treasure never changes from what it is now xx

Friendly and well-run campsite with a pleasing view of the castle, and good walks. A cycle ride from Brighton. Owners were cool.
It's low key: so there are toilets but no showers which will put some people off.
Wasn't expensive. Good for toddlers. 'look at the sheeps daddy', as my boy kept on saying. Along with 'eat blackberries'.

We were so happy to return to Damson Field for a second time and immediately felt at home in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Terry and Lynda are very passionate about what they do and welcomed us like good old friends.
The campsite itself is clean and rustic, with ample toilet facilities. There is a standpipe nearby and a worktop and bowl for washing dishes. The pitches are a good size and well spaced out. There are great views of Bodiam castle from the top of the field, and spectacular sunsets from pitches on the side. Look out for the most vivid starry sky at night.
Terry is working on a small area to the left of the entrance as you enter the campsite called the Market Garden. The Market Garden has developed a lot since our previous visit and is a dedicated space for growing organic produce.
You couldn't wish for more, great hosts, gorgeous rustic campsite that allow campfires, all set in a stunning area.
It would be great if in the future Damson Field was to extend it's operation to full time.
Thank you Terry and Lynda
