Had not made a booking but arrived late afternoon after having great difficulty in finding the site. No sign to say Rother Valley Camping was in evidence and even the local shop thought it could be there but weren't sure.
Entrance was extremely run down and we were not able to find anyone on site at all (apart from a full-time resident of one of the caravans who told us that the owner lived in one of the other caravans) but we were unable to locate him.
The entrance to the field looked very muddy indeed from the yard and the yard itself looked very rundown so we didn't hang around. Very very disappointing.

Upon arrival the site owner put us in the storage yard due to waterlogging, we had been informed of this before we arrived, the next day we moved onto the site which was lovely. The pub at the front is now open, and served homely food, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The site is lovely and clean with good showers for 20p a go.

Arrived as relative beginners at this site and although the management seemed a bit grumpy to start, they soon warmed up and really couldn't be helpful enough! The site benefits from some superb scenery, a quaint steam railway next door, and adequate facilities and Electric Hook ups were abundant. Gate controls were a bit of a nuisance as we really wanted to leave before 8:00a.M but I guess we were an extreme case. All in all a nice site with helpful staff and a pleasant location. We will certainly return. Thank you Rother Valley Camping.

We stayed here for a caravan club centre rally - the entrance looked a little forbidding but no problems getting in. The field we were on had very nice views and the grass was well kept. We didn't use the washrooms so cannot comment on them. By the entrance is a now defunct pub with a kebab van in the car park and a fully functional pub a littler further down the road. Bit of a shame really as there would be great potential for a campsite shop of sorts. The steam railway station is literally two minutes away. No play area for the kids and there is a pond of sorts near the main field. There is a chain across the entrance from 11pm to 8am. conclusions? A nice site location, usual facilities but seems to have gone to seed with the potential for so much more.

A lovely little site - I will be returning. The entrance is a touch off putting ,but don't let that put you off because when you get into the camping field the views are lovely and it is very peaceful and secluded. The showers were excellent and 20p went a long way - the water was lovely and hot. There is excellent dish washing facilities with plenty of hotwater in the three big sinks by the toilets. The toilet/shower block was simple but clean and tidy. You should note that disposable bbq's are not allowed because they burn the grass - but if you are stuck for food there is a burger van close by. I have to say I think the reviews below are unduly harsh - especially the comments about 'from £8' anyone who provides a seasonal service has no choice but to word adverts like that - if you don't ask the price when you book that's your look out! I will say though that you need a torch as the toilets are across the field and there are a few rabbit holes which you need to navigate round at night. If you want a no frills but very nice peaceful site this one is a good one.

Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

Disappointing site. Never had a curfew on entering a site before. On arrival we were surprised to see a chain across the entrance and notices saying that the site was locked at 11pm and unlocked at 8am. We were pitched some way from the toilet / shower block. Luck of the draw I suppose on this occasion. The facilities were a little dirty and the hot water wasn't. Having said that it was nice to hear and see the old steam trains on the local railway. The entrance to the meadow was very muddy on this occasion and there was no "clean" footpath to and from the toilet/shower block.

We came here several times last year and can not fault it. The pitch was fantastic and you can watch the hot air balloons flighing over the site. The toilets were immaculate, always stocked up, nice hot showers. Will definitely be going back!

Nice enough location next to the Kent and Sussex Railway and there are nearby boat trips to Bodiam Castle (both of these are about £25/day for a family with two children). Camber Sands is a 20min drive away.
The pitching area is mainly one large meadow with pitches postioned around the border.
The facilities are adequate but it is the little things like no soap for handwashing and no paper towels or toilet paper which let it down.
Disappointingly the proprietors had manually inserted the word 'from' with ballpen into their price list when we arrived so that the advertised "£8 for two adults" became "From £8 for..". This allowed them to tag an extra £2 to the pitching cost.
We also had a very odd conversation with them about pitching a gazebo. Apparently the gazebo (which is about three inches higher than our tents) obscures the view for other campers from behind the row of hawthorne bushes in the next field. The hawthorne bushes were about five feet higher than the tents and the gazebo so it was all a little strange! They insisted that we either take the gazebo down or move to a pitching site behind the hawthorne bushes in the next field - so it got even stranger!
The pub at the front is closed too when it could be a thriving little place. The nearest shops are a Spar and Londis about a mile up the road so selling fresh milk and tins of beans from the campsite could make far more money thant the pitching fees..... (hint, hint!)
All in all, nice and decent location but disappointing interest from the management.

August 2004 This campsite does not look very inviting at the main entrance but once you are shown to your pitch it really does have a nice view over the Rother valley, great for access on to the steam train which is a 5 minute walk but the drawbacks we found where a good 5 minute walk to the toilets and no playground if you have children.

june 04 When we visited this site we were extremely dis-appointed. Great area. Not too clean a site. Great food on site, but nothing worth shouting about. The weekend we were there, the shower block leaked - so if you want to clean your feet whilst on the way to the loo then go for it !!
