Just spent a week here, the site is great. The showers and toilets are very well maintained and are plentiful, didn't have to queue at all. The site is clean, tidy and litter free. The staff were pleasant and helpful, we stayed on for an extra night with no problems. The pitch size is very generous, allowing for our 8 man tent, gazebo and 2 cars, 3 kids and 4 dogs! Our daughter loved the park and the farmyard animals. The site was quiet at night, the odd peacock call or cow mooing could be heard but wasn't a problem. The shop is very well stocked. Corfe Castle is a short walk away as is the Swanage railway where my husband enjoyed the trip on the steam train. We really enjoyed it here and will return next year.
This was our second visit and we stayed at the site for 10 days (our first trip was 3 nights last July).
We had hoped to be in the Main Field but had a great pitch in the Donkey Field - just as good a location on reflection.
This site is a superb base to explore the area. We visited Studland, Lulworth Cove, Wareham, Swanage and many more.
Corfe Castle is an easy walk with children and there are longer walks aplenty from the site. I did one walk to Worth Matravers and on to Swanage that was fabulous.
This site is a working farm so is a bit shabby and random in places, but that is part of the appeal. If you want a polished holiday camp type site go elsewhere.
Staff were efficient (although a washer being out of action for an extended period was a bit of a pain), but some could be a little more proactive and engaging.
Toilet blocks were very good despite it being high season. Lots of hot water and never had to wait for a shower. Always seemed clean and tidy.
Playground is basic, but with all of the farm animals and an atmosphere that makes it easy for children to socialise that's not a fault.
I'm sure we'll return again next summer, may even try and get down again in the Autumn if the weather is decent.
We had a lovely week, but from the previous reviews on here, maybe my expectations were a little too high. It just felt very big and busy with cars, bikes, people moving about all the time. There were plenty of good points too:
Good points:
- location is very good - lots of nice places to go within 10 miles radius
- Lovely countryside and walk to Corfe Castle and village is easy
- Site is relatively flat, grass kept short and good sized pitches
- Toilets, showers and washing up areas all new and plenty of hot water
- didn't have to queue for toilets or showers
- shop is well stocked and open 8-8
- animals were an attraction for children
- quiet from about 10. 30 at night
Downsides
- very big and busy, cars moving around all the time
- toilets and showers were muddy and toilet floor covered in toilet paper ( messy other campers I know!) Didn't see a cleaner at all, they must have only cleaned mid-day.
- when it rained, water ran down the slight slope in the field so the caravans at the end had water running through their awning.
- staff were not particularly friendly.
- it was noisy in the morning, with trucks and cars from 6. 30am.
We were on Pond Field, which was close to the toilet block, but the Top Field for non- EHU had much better views of the surrounding contryside. It is a working farm with lots of animals and has a rustic charm.
It is a lovely area. Never been to Dorset before so lots to see and do. Corfe itself is a picturesque village with a couple of good pubs, a bakery, village shop and newsagents, gift shops. Wareham was the nearest town, we had a great evening hiring a motor boat along the river. Swanage is an attractive seaside town. Nice shops and restaurants, a little fair, crazy golf etc. Lots of seaweed on the beach though, which had been collected up on our second visit, so the strong smell had gone!Studland Bay had lovely white sands but again a lot of seaweed on the beach. Lulworth Cove was very pretty, and the view of Durdle Dor was worth the hard walk up the coast. The tank museum was well worth the money.
Overall, we enjoyed our holiday and a good site but would prefer a smaller campsite as we would find that more relaxing.
We stumbled across Norden after failing to find anywhere in Swanage to camp. How glad we are that we have found this wonderful site.
On arrival the staff in the very well stocked shop were super friendly and helpful. We found our pitch on the Main Field quite quickly - as we were a group of 3 tents we had the most perfect pitch in a corner where we could all pitch in a circle to enclose the kids in!
The site was so peaceful, while setting up we spotted a couple of squirrels playing near our pitches. On an evening there was the odd peacock and donkey call, just added to the whole experience.
My friends little girl absolutely loved the farm animals (as did us older people too!). The goats were hilarious and that became a routine trip on an evening before bed.
Our position on the Main Field, meant that we could use the toilets / showers for the Main Field and Pond Facilities. Always spotlessly clean, and plenty of hot water. Only minor issues was the toilets and showers being separate as little ones wanted the toilet while parents were showering which caused a few issues!
The site is perfect for visiting Swanage, its a short walk to the train station, and we also made it to Studland Beach.
One of our party were virgin campers and we hope we've shown them what campsites should be like by taking them to Norden.
The same party tried to book again in August, but sadly they were fully booked, but we shall definitely be returning to this wonderful campsite.
We stayed in the pond field. We had rain most days and our tent remained dry throughout. We had one day/night with extremely high winds, but the tent remained in tact. Over all we enjoyed a pleasant stay and the other campers seemed pleasant. When we first arrived it was bank holiday weekend and we felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of people in the site - it felt just too busy.
The toilets were in a disgusting state which stayed unpleasant most days, but this was mainly due to other campers lack of personal hygiene! there was a lot of toilet paper on the floor of all toilets and they smelt throughout our stay. Having said that, the toilets were 'cleaned' but I never felt they were thoroughly cleaned.
The shower block was sufficient with hot running water but again other campers tended to leave any basins in a state. The hairdryer provided didn't work. Having said all that, the location of the site was lovely. The walk into Corfe Castle was very pretty and great for children as it's past fields of sheep with great views for miles.
The farm itself was very shabby and the 'farm' areas were smelly. When the bank holiday weekend was over the site emptied out and became more pleasant. I believe at times it was just too busy and the facilities need to be cleaned more often to keep on top of busy periods. I feel the site would benefit from a barrier system so that it can regulate the amount of paid campers it has. Many campers seem to return to this site but we wont purely because it's too big for our needs, and not clean enough in the toilets.
Fantastic well run site. Great walking area. Handy for norden steam railway and corfe castle. If you get chance take the walk that takes you to the castle it has a magic of its own.
Real nice people very helpful site is flat hook ups good toilets and shower clean.
Site can have problems when very wet but staff are on hand to help.
Fantastic site for children who like animals. All sorts from rabbits to rare breads.
Stayed in our campervan for three days with our 4 year old grand daughter. The area is fantastic with Swanage, Corfe Castle, Studland etc. And we had a lovely trip on the steam railway.
We are veteran campers but this is our first visit to this camp site which is very well located with a beautiful backdrop well away from any main road traffic and with good access. It is also extremely large with a number of different fields catering for all different types of camping some more formal with hookups and some less so. All pitches are grass which might be an issue for vehicles if the weather is bad.
We stayed at the busiest time (July) and were lucky with the weather and apart from some negative remarks and mainly because of its location we would recommend it. Certainly to those with children but only out of season to those who enjoy their peace and quiet.
It was noisy in the evenings until late with a small number of campers having little regard for those around them.
Our main gripe is that some owners allowed dogs to roam unleashed and several times we saw them performing without the owners around to clear up the mess, a real issue that should be addressed particularly with so many children about.
Showers and toilets were surprisingly clean with plenty of hot water despite the large number of people having to use the limited number of cubicles (they are also a bit of a walk from where we were pitched in Donkey field).
The site has a relaxed and informal feel and the farm animals add real value for children with peacocks etc. Roaming around although the pens and huts could do with a clean up. Not sure the 'working farm' argument is a good enough reason for their state. There is also a play park which in high season is probably just about adequate in size.
Staff are friendly and the site shop is well stocked. There is also a garden centre and the flowers for sale add a lovely splash of colour as you enter the site. We did not use the restaurant in the adjacent B&B.
Had super long weekend here with all the family. Very friendly site and good facilities. Well placed for surrounding beaches, Corfe Castle, Monkey World and lots to do. Facilities well kept and clean every effort made to place us all together which was no mean feat. Made it one of our best family camps. Thoroughly recommend this site. Would definitely go here again. Thanks to all for helpful customer service,
We arrived in pouring rain and were advised to check the field we were allocated to select a pitch before paying which was gracious of the site.
Unfortunately the weather went from bad to worse with severe weather warnings for the South coast, although we managed to find a pitch at the top of a field where the land was not as soggy.
The facilities are in very good condition, however a group of Duke of Edinburgh students arrived at the same time and due to the adverse weather, they all sheltered & attempted to dry their belongings in the washing/ toilets and shower rooms but left the whole building in a state with mud smeared on the walls, basins etc, whilst it was no ones fault that the weather was so bad the site really should have perhaps offered better cleaning extra staff etc.
Whilst I have attempted to factor in the environmental conditions, we are unlikely to return as the site did not suit what we expect and seek in a campsite.
Norden is a very friendly working farm and quite a large site which is made up of several level fields one even has its own fishing pond.
Access is gained by driving up through the farm itself (very slowly!) which is a very entertaining experience as we had several convoys of small farm animals (ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks, goats etc) crossing in front of us at numerous points.
A very well stocked shop sits at the bottom of the farm road which is also the site reception,
Anything from a bottle of milk or washing up liquid through to tent poles, animal feeds and even saddles are available.
Nice large toilet/shower blocks with indoor pot washing facilities and roomy cubicles that were kept very clean.
Fantastic location that's next door to Corfe castle and is only a short walk from Norden railway station for a steam train into Swanage.
Ideal for kids who love animals as there is a little farm enclosure where you can get up close to them.
We had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to return.
Just spent 7 days (after the jubilee on this site). We were actually booked onto another on the other side of Corfe Castle but after arriving to find the facilities were rubbish (should've listened to the reviews!) we relocated to Norden Farm which we spotted purely by chance! What a lovely site!
This was our first camping trip with our 10month old son and the facilities here could not have been more suited - the family room with half size bath was ideal for us all to get washed and dressed in the morning and even the regular shower cubicles were big enough for us to wash baby if family room in use. Only ever seen this standard of toilet block on French campsites! Always clean, plenty of hot water and really well thought out layout with separate cubicles with wash basins etc. ALways time for a go on the swing on the way back from the showers too!
The site itself is on a working farm and the 'pets corner' is amazing for little ones - we walked round the corner into the traditional stone flagged farmyard to be confronted by at least 50 animals all wandering around - goats (with newborn kids), turkeys, peacocks (inc a gorgeous albino male), ducks, geese, pot bellied pigs, chickens, guinea fowl, sheep - and we were even lucky enough to see a new calf being born on our first day there! Its not set up as a tourist attraction so expect to get poop on your shoes, but well worth it - it became a nightly visit for our son - a trip to the farmyard before bed! Any childs idea of heaven! However do expect to be woken early by the cockerels - this was a nice novelty for us city folk though! It is a working farm so need to be mindful of little ones with the tractors but there's a strict 5 MPH speed limit and the farmers were always happy to slow to a crawl and wave at the transfixed little ones!
We camped round in Donkey field next to the fluffy sheep-pigs (exact breed unknown) and the field of lambs and although we endured some very heavy rain the ground seemed to dry out fairly quickly - the roads did get very sludgy at one point but not surprising with the amount of rain we had!
Campsite shop stocks all you need - definitely recommend the JUMBO fresh eggs and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Excellent value for money, we pais £14 per night (2 adults) and the pitch sizes are huge so worth every penny! Lovely location too with some lovely walks into Corfe and ideally located for visiting the beautiful Purbeck coastland.
This has now become our new family favourite and we shall definitely be returning next year and possibly at the end of the summer if the weather picks up!
The pitch we had in the Main Field was large and had ample space for our caravan and awning. The main shower block was excellent and despite the site being full I never had to queue and the shower blocks were always very clean with plenty of hot water (except the first ladies shower on the right!).
There is a great family room and doggy shower, which we laughed about but was actually really useful as the site is surrounded by woodland which is fab for dog walking but has muddy ditches which our springer always found!
Overall the site had a really relaxed and friendly feel and the animals were a real hit for our girls however it is a working farm so supervision would be recommended for smaller children.
We stayed during force 7 gales with a couple of families with tents who went home early due to the tents being damaged by the wind & rain. The Top Field was particularly exposed and a number of tents were damaged in the high winds.
Noise on the site was not a problem despite being packed, and no lighting at night was a refreshing change to see the stars at night, between the clouds!
Location is excellent with two walking paths to Corfe which is only 1/2 hour walk away. One is pushchair suitable from the main entrance. The Steam Train is also just over the main road and a short walk down a path/lane which was also a really great day out with benefit of no driving.
We stayed for the first time, for a weekend. We arrived after 6 so was told by the warden to find a pitch, set up and pay the following morning. I found that to be a good system as arriving late booking in etc can waste a lot of time if there's a queue.
I found the pitches to be a very generous size easily fitting our Monty 6 and car on the the pitch.
The toilets and showers were very good, kept very clean and no queuing despite it being a fairly busy weekend.
I also liked the food bar on site. Cooking all things breakfasty in the mornings and burgers etc in the evening. We didn't use it so I can't comment on the value etc but I thought it could be very handy for those arriving late etc.
The 11pm quiet rule seems to be stuck to which really impressed me. However the mornings were a different kettle of fish. Children playing football at 7am wasn't much fun and even worse an adult started the game. Just wish other campers would be more considerate. This particular adult was up at 6am both mornings and didn't we know it.
Will we go back. I think it's a definite yes. Great site. Lovely area. Can't fault it for anything except a few inconsiderate campers and you can get them anywhere.
Just got back from spending the Jubilee weekend here and I have to say that we didn't like it at all. The 'pets corner' was a few ducks, chickens and turkeys in a filthy pen and the playground was really small for the amount of pitches so my 2 small children were too overwhelmed by the sheer volume of kids there.
There were loads of teenagers hanging around by the toilets at all times, kicking the doors & swearing. Teenagers played football right outside our pitch, and when asked to please play elsewhere after slamming their football into our caravan, they just carried on.
Overall, it was really crammed, full of people (both parents and kids) with no respect for other campers and it cost over £30 a night. Would definitely not return nor recommend.
Check in was rather painful and complicated. I had arrived locally by train, so was technically on foot, but I wasn't allowed to pay the hiker rate as I had more than one bag! Not overly fussed, but I did think it was a bit petty.
All of the staff were pleasant and friendly apart from one lady who was, well, just a little bit off. She needs a lesson in customer service.
The site is great, especially the top field (if you don't need EHU) as it is pitch-anywhere which I love. Toilets and showers nice and clean and the on-site shop is very well stocked.
