We stayed at this site as part of a large group booking, there were 6 families in total comprising of 2 tourers and the rest in tents and a ready made tent. We were allocated the top part of the field, luckily so for me as it seemed the only level part of the site as we had a caravan!
I cant believe that the access road and entrance to the site is so tight! I can see lots of caravans colliding with that gate post, you'll see what I mean!
The site facilities were excellent with a fantastic little shop on site which sells the essentials. The kids were allowed to roam free and loved the relaxed atmosphere.
We fully comply with quiet times however on this occasion there were no pressures to quieten down later on in the evening, if you get what I mean! I thought the price was really good, there was access to good walking routes with dogs and visitors to our group were accepted.
Overall, we had a great time, a weekend which we enjoyed and glad we've ticked it off.

A fabulous weekend at Orchard Campsite. Run by really friendly staff, always on hand to help, it's an oasis away from lifes rat race. Everything you would expect at a campsite plus a fridge, microwave and a tv! And a tea machine! Makes camping very easy. The only reason to light a fire (logs available on site) is to sit back, relax and drink an ice cold beer from the shop. :D

Not sure how to score this one. I don't usually climb into my keyboard to leave reviews, but I do feel a few points need to be made about this campsite.
Above all it seems to be a friendly and decent place to camp.
However, the toilets and washing facilities are not up to scratch. I can only wonder what the toilets are like at anyone who says in these reviews that they are OK. They simply are not. It isn't just that there are not enough of them, they are dirty, smelly and decrepit. The showers are of the push-a-button-and-you-get-10-seconds-of-water variety, either blast you with water that is too hot for children, or dribble at you.
The shop is alright (not worth gushing about though). It has what you might need in an emergency. But it is no supermarket and is on the pricey side.
The camp fire option is a nice idea. Worth noting that on one occasion we paid £15 for the log and kindling. The next time it was £15 for the logs.
The location is OK.
The campsite is OK if you are going for the weekend with friends. Any longer and the groups who turn up with their friends and drink and talk till late will get on your nerves.

Just returned from a weekend here. The grounds were lovely. Not too big. Family friendly with a lovely little shop. We had a great time however we were very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the shower block. It was disgusting. We wouldn't go back for this reason !

'This was our first family camping experience. The camping area of the site was very clean, with good sized pitches & the staff very helpful.
Unfortunately, the toilets & showers left a lot to be desired. There was often a cleaner on site but they remained very mucky. The showers were ok on day 1 but cold & lacking power on day 2.
On a positive note the barrows of wood that can be purchased for camp fire building really enhanced our visit. '

Very nice atmosphere. Loved the camp fire's and the owners are very accommodating, nothing was ever too much trouble. Kids loved the outdoor table tennis. The best feature by far is the relaxed informal feel of the whole site, no stuffy rules or curfews, this place is for proper fun camping :)
We will be back (even though your miles away)

Have just returned home after spending 4 nights at the Orchard campsite with my husband, daughter and 3 grandchildren and thought I would give a quick review to help other prospective campers. The site was very clean and the fire wood to make a camp fire was great fun, although it did cost £20 for a wheelbarrow full of wood, kindling and stick and marshmallows to roast. The children loved it.
Twice a week glow sticks are thrown in the air by the workers once it became dark and there was a great scramble for the children to get some which kept them amused and was something quite different from other sites.
On the downside it needs another shower/toilet block but the ones on site were kept clean and supplied with liquid soap and paper towels.
All in all well worth the cost of staying there.

Me and my wife, Had a really nice time all staff were really friendly. The facilities were nice, the toilet block is well kept. They also have a bath we were shocked about that to be on a campsite. And being able to have your own camp fire put the icing on the cake. We will definitely be coming again thanks.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in July for 3 nights. We loved it. We were given a few options where to pitch our tent and we chose the wooded area for a bit more privacy.
We loved having the camp fire each night and the glow sticks for children on Saturday nights was a nice thought.
The toilets and shower blocks are kept clean by a cleaning lady who does a brilliant job. Although I would say that the blocks are due a refurbishment.
The shop is stocked very well and prices are reasonable. The young girl that works in the shop has a great sense of humour and we looked forward to seeing her each day.
There is a seating area outside the shop where you can eat and drink with a wide screen tv also.
We will definitely be returning next year.

Just returned from 5 nights at this site as a family of 5. The site itself is spacious and it was nice to pick your own spot, no restrictions where or how big a plot. The location was very good for the Suffolk coast and we found the staff friendly and helpful. It was nice to walk into the village where there is a nice cafe and butchers.
As a family with young children (youngest 10 months, oldest 8 years) we found the site to be very noisy at night time. People didn't seem to have much campsite etiquette and there were children kicking balls against the tent and running round it late into the night.
Even though it is obviously their peak season the shower and toilet facilities were generally unclean. The toilets better than the showers. We did however find the family bathroom fairly clean and it was really good to be able to give our little one a bath each night.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but we'll be looking for a quieter campsite next time.

This is a lovely site.
The owner, Alan, was so welcoming and helpful. He was always coming round to the tent to check we were ok and settling in well.
On the Saturday the owner got all the children into the middle of the field to play a game. Lots of glow sticks were thrown into the air for the children to find!
The toilets were kept clean and were always being checked.
A great site for families and couples alike!

Just returned from a really nice break at this site.
A warm welcome from staff, excellent pitch. This is our second visit because we like the open fires, although I would suggest some form of designated fire pits would avoid the site becoming ruined by too many scorched areas.
The shop prices are fair and reasonably stocked with essentials.
The only drawback is the state of the toilets and shower block - both of which need a complete overhaul or rebuild as they are very damp, generally grubby and antiquated, although the water is always hot. Next to the shower block is the Refuse area which does need to be emptied more regularly.
We will return but hope that the toilet and shower area improves.

Great site if you want back to basics camping style whist still having access to washrooms, electric hook ups etc, kids love the open fires and the glow sticks on a Saturday night, friendly staff, well stocked and good value on site shop.
Would have no hesitation in recommending this site to anyone

We have now stayed at The Orchard more than a handful of times and every time has been excellent. If you want a small local site then this is the one, the owner and all the staff are friendly, accomodating and helpful to say the least, the toilets and showers are clean, warm and always stocked up, the cleaner seemed to be around most of the day doing a fab job, even giving our dog treats! The small shop has plenty of beer, wine & cider, chilled too. The fridges and freezer are great if you take your own food, otherwise the local food is brilliant too, nothing is overpriced. Being able to have a campfire is a definite bonus, with the wood being fairly reasonable, the site doesn't get too cramped and just has a lovely feel to it with a good mix of ages.
