Just returned from a weekend trip. Very spacious secure site. Massive pitches, some grass, some with hard-standing. Very clean shower block.

Slight road noise on the site, but no problem sleeping. Ideal for York (2 miles from the centre). Bus directly outside site, or park and ride from Monks Cross (about 2 miles away).

My OH complained washing up facilities are only in the womens shower block.

Would recommend to everybody, will use site again.

Also has a large indoor secure on site caravan storage facility, if anybody is in need.

We stayed here for one night, what a lovely quiet site it is. The pitch we had for our tent was massive. The toilet / shower block was very clean.

You had to leave a £10 refundable deposit so you could get in and out of the park with your car. Which wasn't a problem.

We took the bus into York which is right across the road. It cost £2.00 to get into York. Not too far away was a big shopping centre (Monks Cross) which was easy to find and had plenty of shops there including Asda.

If we were returning to York. We would camp here again.

A nice spacious site, the facilities were ample and very clean. The pitches are large and separated by little hedges. It will be better when these have grown more for privacy, but its not really a problem.

The staff are very friendly, and the site is barrier controlled for security. There was a lot of road noise, both from the road outside and the nearby A64, and also quite a number of planes right overhead, but it wouldn't put me off another visit.

We have just returned home after spending three smashing days at this smashing site. We have a touring caravan and wanted to commute into York. This site is brilliant for this as the bus service is great and frequent every half hour and the bus stop is directly in front of the site gate.
The site warden was really helpful and friendly and there is a barrier which is accessed outward by afob key which charges are a returnable &10.
The only small gripe about the adequate shower / toilet was the lights don't come on till you are on top of them which is rather frightening for ladies going to use them in the dark. Also there wasn't a lock for the door so I was frightened to use the showers on my own in the evening and needs some hooks or a shelf in washroom area to hang up towels etc. Maybe a small light permanently on at night would be a good idea. Also a toilet key maybe given with the barrier fob key just to feel a bit safer.
Anyway apart from this I really enjoyed the site and certainly will go back.

We were here in June and have returned for stay at what has become our favourite site. We have changed from camping to caravanning since June and we have decided to store our caravan at YCP so that it gives us even more reason to stay here.

The facilities are still as good as they were and there is no deterioration in any aspect of the site. Absolutely great.

Would agree with all said in last few posts. Excellent site, lovely large pitches, well kept, facilities clean and cared for, superb transport network so no need to take car into York. Bus was £1.50 each, each way and ran every half hour apart from Sunday when it was every hour. Didn't use a taxi as bus was so good. You can connect up to the water etc on thre site but will need long hoses and the right fittings etc. Lovely pond with ducks and picnic tables alongside. Site owner polite and helpful.

If it matters to you there is plenty open space but no children's playground. Ball games aren't allowed on the central grassed area and I can understand the owners previous response about the risk of denting panels on expensive cars and units.

my daughters, granddaughter and I had the most lovely long weekend and we will definitely use this site again without any hesitation.

If I had one constructive comment to make it would be for some signposts to the site along the adjacent roads. We came in two cars both with sat navs and neither got us easily to the spot.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at ycp and found it excellent the park is very well organised and pitches are very big. The shower block is spotless and well looked after and close to all pitches (no 200 yard dash in middle of night ) Andrew the owner is very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and we will be looking to return next year for a longer stay. Transport links were great and not having a car was not a problem as buses go to york/leeds or the yorks coast from literally the park entrance

Well located, easy to find site with very friendly staff. We were amazed at the large size of the pitches for both tents and caravans. The pitches are so large that it is possible to site your caravan and awning on either the hard standing or the grass. Fresh water point, drainage point and digital T.V. Hookup for every pitch. Very clean, modern toilet and shower facilities. There is a regular bus service into York centre from immediately outside the entrance to the site. Would stay here again.

A quiet site with a very helpful owner.

Pitches are huge.

Toilet/ shower block is cleaned every day and is fine, although the shower cubicles are a bit small (nowhere to put your clothes)

No facilities for children, which was fine for us as ours grew up years ago.

There is a bus stop right outside, straight into York.

There Pub about 400 yards away does a good carvery, which is cheaper if you are seated before seven p.M.

We will certainly go back.

Visited YCP for a week in August in a tent. Found the site to be extremely clean, both shower/toilet block spotless, hot water all the time, and cleaned everyday. The site was quiet and perfectly placed for visits out to York Centre and Waterworld etc. Bus stopped right outside campsite costs 3.00 return to York. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hubby fished pond everyday, well kept and full of carp and tench. Caught everyday up to 5lb carp. 2lb tench. Spent a peaceful weeks holiday there kids safe and able to play and fly kites on ajoining field. Will definitely be booking to return next year, seriously recommend a visit owners FAB !

I highly recommend this site. The pitch size is the absolutely HUGE! We got on this site as we managed to get a cancellation.

Andrew, the owner is very friendly and helpful and does everything in his power to make your stay as enjoyable as he can. The toilet and showers are immaculate.

A small play area for the kids would have been an added bonus, but, this in no way detracts from the site. As previous mentioned York center is a 'stones throw' away and there are plenty activities for children off site. I managed to keep the shopping center which is about a mile away a secret from the wife :).

Tried to book for August bank holiday so we could visit again, but, was full. Just waiting for another cancellation now.

Just returned from a week at York Caravan Park

And would endorse all the other reviews on here

It was an excellent place to stay for visiting York, would add that the ladies area has a hair dryer and there are nice smelling soap dispensers, the only negative is the lack of a little shop for milk and bread etc but that is only a personal gripe other than that a big gripe would be the thief who stole ALL the toilet rolls in the loo's ! shame on you whoever you are.

The bus was well used and having reached

The age of free travel we made good use of the

Services to Scarborough and Whitby this trip took

You over the Moors and through the village of

Goathland where Heartbeat is filmed, York itself

Is a delight if into history, visited the York

Castle Museum which now has the cells open this season the weather mixed with plenty of rain but

We still found plenty to do.

This Site has a definite thumbs up from us will

Go again.

We enjoyed an excellent week at York Caravan ark. We were made to feel welcome upon our arrival and the pitches are an unbelievable size as well as being flat and well kept. The toilet/shower block is spotless and well appointed. Andrew is a very friendly young chap and is always available should you need help. He was very helpful when we had our windscreen broken on the way back to the site one evening. He gave us the use of the open storage area whilst the new windscreen was fitted on the following morning. We are going back soon are we are really looking forward to it.

Fab site could not fault it. Huge pitches spotless toilets and showers. Nice pub in next village ( heworth ) only a short bus ride bus stop outside the camp but tell the driver where your staying on return journey as it's pitch black and you can not tell were you are. I will be going back to this site as soon as poss its great

We have just returned from our first visit to this site. We only stayed one night, however we were very impressed. The pitches are as mentioned HUGE, the staff are really helpful and friendly and the setting is lovley.

Its very quiet and nothing to do really on site, which was great for us,but maybe not for everyone. Toilets etc, great. There are regular buses into York which only take a few minutes to get to the city centre for £2 for a single trip and the last bus from York is around midnight! A taxi costs only £6!

Will def return!
