 We have stayed at this site twice now - once in the height of summer and once in May. Lovely setting, right next to the river. The toilet block is modern, clean and spacious. Pitches are a good size - we will come back here again. Only thing to put me off was the booking in procedure - computerised questionnaire, thought they were going to ask my shoe size! I suppose that is getting more common nowadays tho and a small price to pay for a lovely site.

First time to this site & it won't be our last, it was a lovely site, the river was great for our son (13) the toilets were clean every time we went to use them. The different villages were lovely, you didn't have to travel too far if you didn't want to. We went just before the start of the school hols, not sure how noisy the river side get's in the summer from the locals going there. As l say we will be going back again, would recomend it to all! The location of this site is fantastic, surrounded by hills and with the river Ribble close by. It really is a lovely, peaceful and clean site. It’s a great site for dogs as they have a dog-walking field, which is big and goes down to the river. The owners/staff are friendly and always seem to be doing something to the site to keep it up to its high standard.
We had EHU and our pitch was spacious and you didn’t feel like you were on top of your neighbour. The female facilities were good with plenty of toilets, 4 private cubicles with a sink, plus 4 more sinks. All the showers are separate from the toilets, but in the same building. These were spacious and of the push button type and there was always plenty of hot water. My only grumble is that the tile grout and soap dishes in the female showers could do with a clean as they had mould on them. Overall a fantastic site and I’m really pleased that we chose to camp there.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Knight Stainforth! Our two daughters made lots of friends on the playground which was quiet by 9.30 pm. The surrounding area is simply beautiful with plenty to do. The toilet block was clean and large enough to cater for all those staying there. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. The site was full but there was still plenty of room. It is a lovely site in beautiful surroundings and we will definitely be going again.

Great site, fantastic views, clean and modern toilet / shower block all accessed with a key (deposit required). There is a small play area for kids and an indoor games room. The River Ribble runs nearby, complete with small waterfall.
Convenient for the Dales, West coast and the famous Settle to Carlise railway.
Friendly owners, no club house.
We will be back again!

My boyfriend John and I have visited Knight Stainforth about 5 or 6 times now in the last 2 years. The campsite is very peaceful even when there are loads of kids running around.
The Maudsley family are always very welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The campsite is very well maintained, the showers and toilets are always clean and tidy, the shop is well stocked and reasonably priced for all those items you may have forgotten!
For those who enjoy a good walk, there are several leaving from the village of Little Stainforth which saves you driving anywhere. The local pub the 'Craven Heifer' has a good selection of ciders and ales and they do a fantastic meal which is very reasonably priced!
The pub is about a 10-15 minute walk (depending on how sore your feet are!) from the back of the campsite.
The only downside is the short steep hill you have to walk up to get to the pub but at least when you are a bit wobbly from the cider the hill seems a lot less steep rolling down it! We will continue to visit this campsite as it is so far the best we have found.

After reading all the previous reviews we decided it was worth a visit. We arrived on a Sunday for 3 nights with a view to extend. Our first impression was that it was a clean tidy site.
The play area is great for the kids and there were lots of groups with children which was a bonus for our children to make lots of new friends.
The toilet block and shower rooms were also great and always kept clean with plenty of loo roll.
Not far from the site was a river which was good for the kids as they enjoyed netting trout, and the river has plenty of pools in it and if you have never tried a jacuzzi then this is the perfect place to try it for nothing.
Just over the bridge was a single road which to took you up to a village called Stainthforth. There was a lovely pub which welcomed the children and the price of a pint was fairly reasonable too.
We decided to eat out at the Harts head pub in Giggleswick we found the food good and for the first time ever we saw the children clean their plates.
The weather wasn't the best with heavy rain most days but when you have a Sunncamp cottage it doesn't bother you :)
We found the staff helpful on site and were happy to extend our stay day by day after our first 3 days were up. The shop stocked most items you would expect, I found the opening hours were not the best during the week closing at 6.00pm but that didn't stop us enjoying a further 2 days.
Well worth a visit for those who enjoy walks, caves and waterfalls.

Had a really great relaxing weekend at this site. The site is in a lovely setting and the option to pitch where you like means that there is plenty of room. Some of the places are on a big slope but there is plenty of flat ground. As there were lots of children on the site we thought the 2200 noise limit might have been a problem but it worked fine with no heavy handed "policing" that we have found on other sites. The site was kept clean and tidy and the shower and washing facilities were excellent.
The plunge pools on the river were great but we were spoilt with good weather. The site is an ideal base for exploring and walking. We spent a good 4 hours wandering round the Ingleton Falls walk.
Overall a very good site and good value for money.
One word of warning, our satnav directed us a very narrow lane and over the VERY narrow bridge over the river. We had a trailer attached so by the time we realised the mistake there was no turning back (I can't reverse the trailer s I can't see it in the car!). We made it but I am sure the car was breathing in as much as were!
We will definitely be returning to this site.

I stay here with my wife and 6 other friends to introduce them to camping and experience the views from the top of Pen-y-ghent. We were all impressed with the site.
Well maintained, clean and tidy with excellent facilities. The newly re-furbished showers and toilets are a credit to the owners. Apart from a slight slope near the river the site is flat with good drainage with plenty of space between you and your neighbours (bank holidays excepted) with easy access to Stainforth Force which was fantastic to jump into during the recent heat wave, marred slightly by all the litter left there by locals.
We have tried to book again for August Bank Holiday but it is all booked up due to it's popularity.
A site well worth a visit.

This is a wonderful site, especially to use as a base to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Easy to find although don't trust a Tom Tom as it may take you down a very narrow road to the site. Check-in was dead easy with welcoming and friendly staff and with there being no allocated pitch meant that, with arriving early we were able to put the tents up in a nicely elevated position.
As for facilities, the toilets were extremely clean and well looked after (hot water can be at a premium when busy). The play area was safe and well equipped and although it has no outdoor heated pool, it has a fantastic river running through with high diving ledges for entertainment.
Probably the only downside I could find was the slight slope on the fields, but that would be nitpicking. A site to be recommended for families and couples alike, and one we would definitely visit again.

Excellent campsite and facilities. Toilets and showers warm, clean and free. Kids loved the river and the plunge pools. What more could we ask for. will definitely be back again soon.
The shop was handy too, for silly things we forgot such as butter and bread.

I have just returned from a long weekend at Knight Stainforth and have had a fantastic time. Despite what the previous poster said, this site does not have marked pitches and you can pitch where you want, unless you want a leccy hook up and then you have got designated spots.
The site was silent by 11 PM despite the number of kids and dogs on site. The toilets and showers were clean and warm and my daughter loved the plunge pools and waterfalls next to the bottom field, although they get very busy on the weekend with locals and youths from further afield.
The pub in nearby Stainforth does fantastic home cooked food and has 3 Ales on tap so don't be put off by its worn looks!
I will definitely return to this site.
Forgot to mention there were loads of huge tents on this site, and they don't even charge extra for a gazebo!

A lovely site with good sized pitches and excellent, modern facilities situated in a glorious part of the Yorkshire Dales. The scenery from the site is spectacular and within a short driving distance you can be at Malham Cove, Gorsdale Scar and a little further away the Three Peaks of Whernside, Inglebrough and Pen-y-ghent, Also nearby is the Ribblehead valley and its picturesque viaduct which carries the Settle to Carlisle Railway Line.
All in all, a great site that we will be visiting again.

This was only our second time on a "posh" site, as in with proper marked pitches. Where we usually go you are allowed to throw up your tent or awning where'ever the mood takes you! But we went with some trepidation (and some friends who know the site) and we did have a good time. The booking in is smooth, they even order you a morning paper, rather like a hotel!
The shop is VERY PRICEY! but if youre stuck then they do stock bits to keep you going. The kids were told to keep quiet a couple of times by other caravanners, they werent being loud, they were just being kids, we had 5 of them between us. One nice chap told them he was trying to sleep, at 6pm!
The site is in a lovely spot. With fantastic walks, its very clean and well maintained. The loos etc are clean but tend to get over run with teenagers after dark looking for a place to hang out.
All in all a nice site, £14 with hook up and extra kids £1.50, deposit for toilet key and barrier card £10.

What a beautifully located site with fantastic facilities. We stayed a long weekend and would definitely go back again. The touring pitches are great with plenty of room in between. The toilet facilities are modern and clean and there are no charges. There is a little play area for children which my little boy really enjoyed.
Out of the gate from the site is a lovely stream and little waterfall - what great fun everyone was having in the water and picnicing around.
Lots of places to go to locally and keep all amused or just great to enjoy the tranquility of the site. There is a small shop and games room. The people running the site are lovely. There is a security barrier in and out, so you feel good and safe.
They had a charity 'gig' in the weekend we were there with food and drink - my husband was chomping at the bit to go - pity we have a 16 month old to hold us back!
Well recommended and well worth the site fees.
