Just got back from a 4 day break first time we have been here my husband and I and our 2 jack Russell's and 1st time in a motorhome. What a pleasure it was to stay everyone so friendly all facilities are beautiful and clean. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which was very Reasonably priced lots of choices too. We had a lovely walk to settle village which is lovely nice shops to visit we liked it that much we are booking for a week in October

We come here a couple of times each year, usually off peak season but this time we came at high season, August Bank holiday. Even when the site is busy it somehow still has the feel of a small family site. The addition of the Café / Restaurant / Bar is brilliant for a site a bit away from any amenities.

The site's location is of course stunning with an easy accessible walk along the river and down into Settle and plenty of other walks too.

A great site to just stay on or two use as a Base for outdoor adventures.

Definitely recommend.

Spent 4 nights here end of May bank holiday. Loved this site. Facilities are second to none and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We arrived later than planned due to hubby making a mistake with the sat nav.

My asda shopping was due before we actually arrived. Or should I say, just as we arrived. The owner was kind enough to accept the food shopping and stored it in his cool room. How nice and considerate.

The pitch was a great size and easily accommodated our Kampa Croyde classic air tent (7. 4m x 4. 4) Each ehu pitch also had their own water tap- this was great. Fantastic views and the river was a hit with my boys.

The new restaurant was a little pricey for me. Nachos for sharing £6- little excessive. The beer & cider slightly above average prices but overall gets the thumbs up. If I'm being picky. Could do with a play area for the older children, but again I'm just picking due to the fact this place is great.

We asked to stay on for another night but was fully booked. Location to Settle is just over 3 miles and we had a lovely walk into Settle via the river.

Overall- we had a fantastic 4 days here and will be returning. Think this has to be my new favourite campsite.

Lovely site, great views, good children's playground, café excellent and the staff very helpful and welcoming.

My only complaint is about the toilet/shower block it is quite a distance from the camping field and there are only four showers for the ladies and four for the gents if the site was full I would imagine the queues would be terrible. They are also not very clean, they weren't cleaned once during our 4 night stay which really isn't acceptable.

Philpin Farm Campsite - Yorkshire Dales

Beautiful tent only site set on a family run hill farm in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled between Ingleborough and Whernside. The Three Peaks footpath runs right through the farm adjacent to the campsite with lots of walks direct from the site from easy strolls to climbing the Three Peaks, and five minutes to the pub!

Tent pitches only, no electric hookups. Toilet and shower block and washing up facilities. Sit, eat and socialise in the old barn, with free wifi, charging lockers, freezer. At weekends the Philpin Snack bar is open for cooked breakfasts, hot and cold snacks and drinks, ice creams, chocolates etc, on other days there are vending machines in the barn.  Found this site on this website and as reviews were very positive booked it for birthday weekend

Positives

Some of best views of any site we have stayed on

Owners v friendly and so helpful

Shower/toilets - spotless warm and newish

Bar and restaurant on site (less than 12 mths old) serving good food and dogs allowed in. Also got fantastic views of the hills and dales - worth a visit in its own right

Also a dog friendly pub in local village (15 min stroll) which serves good food and has a famous miserable landlord which was great fun

Negatives

Lane to site quite narrow in places and met large tractor that would not give way and caught my van

Showers - press button (I don't like these) no place to put soap/shampoo etc other than on floor and no mop to clean out when finished

Overall one of best private sites we have been on and the positives far outweigh the minor negatives. Will deffo return

This is a fab campsite although the narrow approach road takes a little getting used to in a wide 7 seater! Pitches are large (ours had hook up and tap) although was sloping so my son kept sliding out of his bedroom! Site v busy at weekends but was lovely during the week which was surprising in school holidays. Our younger children liked the play area.

Toilets and showers were clean (and free ) and pot washing facilities were good. Small freezer for ice blocks in the laundry room which was free to use.

We used the cafe a couple of times and the food was fab and v family friendly, one of our party was gluten and dairy free and the chef was very helpful and created something she could eat. Overall the staff were fantastic. Our car wouldn't start so one of the owners, who is a trained mechanic, came with his industrial jump leads and started it. Nothing was too much trouble. The campsite also allows Tesco delivery so I was able to order all of my food to be delivered.

The location is fabulous, a gorgeous riverside walk straight from the campsite and loads of great walks in the area within a short drive. The only minor niggle was the amount of flies present, it made mealtimes quite challenging!

We will definitely go back soon

Just spent another week at this excellent site. The new café is must visit, great food and I can recommend the take away pizza. I would like to say a big thank you to Paul, Chris, all the family and staff for the hard work they put into keeping the site in perfect condition. The shower block and pot washing facilities are always clean. Knight Stainforth is a family friendly site in a perfect location for visiting the Dales.

This site is a bit pricier than we would usually go for, but really worth it for the location alone. Stainforth Force is actually accessible via the site's dog walking area and backs right on to the site - perfect for a late night/ early morning dip. Catrigg Force is a little further - maybe a 1-2 hour round trip.

Entry is via a barrier and you must leave a £10 deposit for the key.

Dogs are supposed to be on leads at all times (HATE this stupid rule, why not just ban people who haven't brought their dogs up properly?!) so we ended up taking our chairs down to the dog walking area for the evening, which is spacious and well maintained.

Very roomy showers, and a good washing up room with plenty of hot water. Looked to be great for children - big play area etc.

Licensed bar on site, and try the takeaway pizza - we had one called 'Dragon's Breath', phew it was delicious.

Settle is only 10 minutes drive away and it has a Booths supermarket as well as lots of nice little crafty shops.

What's not to like - great views, decent sized pitches, heated facilities block and a bar/café that serves as good a value breakfast as I have ever had. Site was busy the weekend we stayed (well it was the height of the school holidays) but never felt crowded. Great area by the river to walk dog, lovely riverside walk to Settle. This site has really helpful friendly staff too - nothing is too much trouble.

Really enjoyed our short stay here. Our pitch was quite muddy in the middle compared to the others but the pitches are really big so it wasn't a problem. Toilets, showers and pot washing all clean and very hot water. Kids enjoyed play area. Café serves great food, staff all friendly. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed here for a long weekend, nice friendly greeting on arrival, informed where pitch was. Nice big pitch, got tent, gazebo, trailer & car on pitch.

Toilets clean, warm, never seen them dirty, same for showers, always have hot water, laundry room (with ironing board& iron), pan wash all clean.

They have a children's play area, TV room which we haven't used (no kids), kids on camp seemed happy.

Hook up for tents & caravans, they have shop/cafe ( didn't have that first time we went there)

Nice views of Dales, river walks, dogs friendly site. All good.

We will go again, enjoyed it first time (Basic camping no hook up, with mini rallies) enjoyed it second time. Will again.

Just got back from this fab campsite after a 3day camping break we were a group of 7 and We were staying here to do the 3 Peaks challenge and found everyone very welcoming. The site has excellent toilets/showers and we were glad of the free hot showers after our 3 peaks challenge! The licenced Café is lovely with fantastic food and welcoming atmosphere. We came here many years ago and the changes we found this time are great improvements whilst keeping the friendly family run feel to the site. Beautiful setting and highly recommended :-)

Beautiful setting with lovely views. Stayed with our grand children spring bank holiday weekend. The site was pretty full when we arrived on the Saturday but we still managed to find a fairly flat spot on the top field which we chose as it was near to the playground, lovely green grass. The food in the new cafe was nice and very fairly priced. When my grand daughter spilt her drink staff were there in seconds with a cloth to wipe up Thank you. We visited Malham where there was a Safari week. Spot the boots hidden around the village and find numbered clues. There was also a magician and a duck race, good for children. Reception toilets and showers were all to a high standard.

Stayed 2 nights from fri 16th in a group of approx 20 including several kids of various ages. Lovely picturesque site with views of beautiful rolling hills. Short walk to the river to see the stunning must see waterfall. Site is fairly well maintained. Didn't venture far due to short stay but the town is 5-10 mins away in the car and looks very pleasant.

Grass pitches are spacious and on a slight incline and once the divots were avoided pitched without any issues.

Kids made good use of the large well maintained park which was missing a 'required' second toddler swing!

The reception/cafe area is still under construction and though we didn't use it we were invited for complimentary nibbles/drinks for the opening by the very welcoming and pleasant staff.

The toilet/shower block is also well maintained and very clean. Showers are not brilliant, poor pressure, old fashioned push button type and way too hot early morning. Couldn't shower my 7 and 4 year old, they would have been burned alive! Had we been staying longer I might have mentioned this to the staff who I'm sure would have been as helpful as possible.

Overall a very enjoyable stay in the beautiful countryside with only a few minor niggles!
