We have just returned from a weeks stay at Laneside and to be honest could not find a negative to write about. Easy booking, very friendly wardens, helped position caravan. Site has small number of fully serviced pitches next to the main washroom opposite the reception. Area is great for walking direct from the site in all directions. Or a short drive takes you to Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth, Castleton for caverns and Mam Tor.

Hope is about five minutes away walking down the path on the road or 15 minutes if you walk the river route. In Hope there is a Spar, a butchers, a grocers, a post office, two pubs, an Indian and Chinese takeaway and other shops, small but just about all you need to be honest.

Laneside itself is a great site and I would definitely recommend it. Site is kept very tidy, there is a small shop in the reception that has a reasonable range of items.

All in all a great no hassle week in a beautiful setting on a great site.

Laneside is in the perfect location for walks and cycling in the Peak District the village of hope is just 5 minutes walk away and is served with several pubs and local spar shop that supplies all your needs. Also there is a lovely Deli that does freshly made sandwiches and jams etc also check out the greengrocers next door.

Downsides to Laneside are just 2

The noise from the road is constant from 4 in the morning as is the train

Also the site toillets and showers are very dated and very cold although the water is lovely and hot the room temperature is cold

The Staff are excellent and very helpful

Just needs some TLC

We have just returned from a 3night break at this caravan park, very friendly and polite staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

The toilets and shower facilities are very clean and tidy, there is plenty of pot washing facilities which are always left clean.

There is a little shop on site and plenty of free leaflets and paper telling you all about the area, also they give you the local numbers of the pubs and restaurants.

Hope valley is only 1/2 mile from the campsite.

There is a children's play area.

Just returned from 3 nights at this site, been several times before, great site, toilets are imaculate and the site always well kept. Managed to see the king fisher by the river. The local pubs had changed a bit since our last visit but always plenty of choices for somewhere to eat. The travelers ( right out of the site ) was a bit quiet but the food was still good, but the best find recommended by a local was the indian in hathersage, they deliver to the site and the food was amazing, best indian I have ever had it is called Maazi tel 01433650725. I would always recommend this site as there is so much to do, always enjoy the walk over the fields to castleton and the bacon cobs from the deli in hope make a good choice for breakfast.

Booking was very easy and a friendly affair.

Well signed from the main road giving lots of time to enter the site

Upon arrival a very warm welcome awaited us, pitch booked and site map

Owner even cycled to our pitch to show us the way.

The pitch was big enough and a great spot.

The entire site is spotless with an in/Entry road and an Out/exit road, which make things safe and easy.

The shop is well stocked.

The toilet areas are very large, well kitted out and spotlessly clean

The rules are strictish but fair so behaviour on site is good

I felt very secure and safe on this site

Our first visit but we will return.

Really worth a visit but does get busy

This campsite certainly has the monopoly with the location and facilities it has to offer, that said due to the popularity of the area the campsite does get full which is when I feel that space becomes comprised especially when your neighbours unit encroaches into your pitch! Nothing much, if anything for your children to do on this site. We stayed over the bank hol so you have to accept places being busy. Clean site with facilities available, clean loos and shower blocks and lovely area, with lots of walking and relaxing to be had. Bus and train transport within a short walk, lots of welcoming pubs, and of course Castleton and Peveril castle to visit and admire.

Had a few visits to Laneside and never get tired of it. Always a very friendly welcome. Site is always well looked after, toilets and showers always clean. Great little dog area. Beautiful surrounding areas of Hope and Castleton are great for walking. Local shops and village pubs are great and pubs are dog friendly. Highly recommend The Cheshire Cheese pub in Castleton for food and friendliness. Will definitely keep returning to this wonderful site.

The location is great as a walking base around Castleton. There is a nearby pub and Castleton (many pubs) is not too far away on foot either. The site is well maintained and has excellent shower/washing facilities. It is mainly a caravan park so it is a bit like a village(no stumbling around in the dark) and not a quiet field or woodland. However, it is surrounded by hills and greenery. A great place to explore the caves, hills, castle and pubs from but quite a noisy, busy and big site.

We usually stay at quieter CL caravan club sites, but on this occasion none available. However I cold find no fault with Laneside, spotless toilets and showers, and plenty of them, free Wi-Fi connection. Although fairly large the park was quiet. Helpful staff. Will certainly visit again. **************
