This is my second visit with the family. We had two pitches; ehu + non ehu. It is advisable to take groundsheets to protect the underside of the tent, as the pitch has small slate covering. Rock pegs also needed for the ehu, non ehu is grass.

The campsite has expanded since the last visit, by opening up more fields on both sides of the road. There is an additional toilet block to accommodate the extra number of campers. Did not need to wait to use the facilities. It is 20p for 6 minutes for a shower. They are cleaned each day. May not be to standard for some people, if they don't like seeing cobwebs. Didn't check the new block, so cannot comment.

It is a great site for families with lively children, as there are two playgrounds, streams to play in. During the summer, activities are available for a fee. Plus club house with entertainment, and bar. Also provides meals and takeaways. A shop on site which sells magazines, sweets, tinned and fresh food. Also camping equipment. The staff are friendly, always have a smile.

Pooley Bridge is a short walk along the lake. Where there is gift shops, general store, post office, shop which sell outdoor clothes and equipment. As well as a couple of pubs and a tea room. There is a ferry which goes the full length of the lake, to Glenridding. Aira Force is not far by car. Or their is a bus stop if you want to leave the car at the site.

It is hit and miss the type of campers who are there, because the nature of the site. It does quieten down around 12 am. The site is paroled at this time. A police car comes on site, only because it is part of the patrol round.

If your the type of camper who likes quiet, secluded sites, this is not a site for you.

If your looking for site for your children who need to be occupied with swings etc. My son thinks it's fantastic.

You'll love it or hate it or maybe like me you'll love and hate it. Loved its proximity to Lake Ullswater and the short and pleasant stroll to Pooley Bridge.

Loved the convenience of having the clubhouse on hand to get a fairly-priced meal when the heavens opened over the Bank Hol weekend (fairly rowdy in there but then football was being screened and Man you did beat Arsenal 8-2 so no surprise).

Loved the fact that wardens weren't shushing us up the minute the clock struck 10.

That said, was very glad we weren't on the main part of the site with kids screaming in the park until gone midnight or people traipsing right past the door of your tent to go to the shop or clubhouse.

Hated the fact that we paid £148 for a 4 night stay in a tent and the facilities on the overspill field were woefully inadequate: a Portakabin block of 4 toilets and 2 washing up sinks for the number of tents was a joke.

This field should have its own shower block too. We ended up using our own gas to boil our own water to save queueing to wash up. The toilet block floors were filthy due to a very muddy field and should have been mopped much more frequently.

Would I go again-yes due to the site's great location and relaxed feel. Be warned, if you mind people talking until 3 in the morning and you don't like large groups- stay clear.

I found that Park Foot was well situated site. I cant fault the staff as they were friendly and helpful.

Lake access was great and views amazing.

Shop was pricey but well stocked. Would advise to go into Penrith had lovely sunday dinner there. Food in club house was reasonable Cuppa tea was £1. 20 milk shake was £1. Pint lager was £3 10' pizza £5. Pool table was a £1 if you wanted to play air hockey needed £1 deposit.

Pooley bridge looked busy but didn't get to walk there because of rain.

We were situated in what they called overflow field although it was raining non-stop our car did not get bogged down. Putting our tents up in the rain was horrendous but we all mucked in. Nearest lake access.

The showers although cost 20p for 6 mins were hot and clean. Word of warning if someone is in the next shower your things may get wet!

The toilets in our field were kept clean. Apart from lots of cut grass all over the place, this was soon cleaned up.

This site offered us a cancellation. Although pricey (£29 per night just for pitch / electric) we thought it would be good due to location.

Booking in was very slow but staff friendly.

The site pitch was very tight and we had to get two neighbours to move their cars so we could get onto the pitch.

Felt it was a bit much asking 20p for showers at the price. My husband went for a shower and to use the toilets and found a soiled nappy in the cubicle.

£2 per hour for wifi is expensive and can only be accessed in the (noisy) bar area.

As TV reception poor, we went to watch Match of the day. Staff hoovered around us then knocked the TV off without warning half way through programme.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Park Foot over the bank holiday weekend.

The location of the site was great, just a short walk by the lake into Pooley Bridge which has some lovely shops and pubs. Staff were also friendly and helpful however, we found the facilities to be very poor.

We were in the overflow field (Eusekrigg) with a toilet block and two dish washing sinks. Given that there were at least 50 family tents on the field, these were very busy and dirty a lot of the time. The closest showers were in the next field and also serviced that field with at least the same number of tents again. We had to queue for 30 minutes to get a shower.

The site itself was kept clean and free of rubbish with plenty of bins but recycling points were a 10 minute walk away - probably far enough to put many people off

Security patrolled on a night which great and made sure noise was kept to a minimum.

We personally felt that what we paid per night (£28 no ehu) was too much for the lack of facilities that we had.

Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale

Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.

Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

We have visited this site a couple of times, each year for the past 4 years with our tent at busy and quiet times of the year. Fantastic location with everything you need. The on site shop is well stocked with everything you could need and reasonably priced. Site is large but can get very busy. We try to get pitched in the lower field over the road from the main site as its much quiter and handy for the lake shore and the short walk to the village. Never used the clubhouse or takaway so could not comment. Since we started going here we have noticed it getting more commercialised and loosing the personal touches. Despite it being a family camping site some clientel spoil it by not adhearing to the rules of no noise between certain hours. The last couple of times we have stayed it seemed more like glastonbury with large groupes drunkenly partying into the night using foul languge and showing no respect for those with small children trying to sleep. If you don't mind rowdy neighbours then there is plenty there for your kids to do. If its peace and quiet your after!

We spent a long weekend at Park Foot and its gone straight in as one of the best sites we've stayed at.

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who directed us to our pitch.

We chose the bottom field to camp in, as we don't require electricity, and found a sunny spot by the sheep's field closest to the Lake. This turned out to be more luck than judgement as all the other pitches next to us were in the shade by 6 o'clock.

The pitches were clean and well maintained plus you can pick your own! The field is large and there's no feeling of being crambed in.

The toilet block looked new and was kept very clean. The showers were always hot. You get 6 minutes for 20p!

The village of Pooley Bridge is 'quaint' with 3 pubs, a tourist information, a few shops and the river running down to Ullswater. We used the Morrisons in Penrith which is approx 10 minutes drive away.

One benefit of this Park over others in the Lakes is that its only 15 minutes from the Motorway so if you want to drive out somewhere it makes the journey a lot more bearable! We drove up to Hadrian's wall for an afternoon walk which I'd recommend.

All in all its a great site, great location and we'll definitely be heading back before too long. This time with a canoe ! !

Very good site for kids. Two parks. Well kept. Good facilities. Can get over crowded.

We had noise on the first night but security sorted it. Booked for bank holiday while we where their. Its a little more pricey that the rest but its worth it. Bar and kids disco cool.

Easy to get to. Pooley bridge an easy walk along the lake. The shop sold most things but no beer, very well stocked. Views great from Lark view field.

More EHU needed this is a big site but gets booked up very quickly, due to it having everything for the kids.

Had our very 1st family camping trip here in July. Enjoyed the site but it was a bit too busy for our taste.

Went to the kids disco, again surprised that they felt the need to have bouncers on duty! Especially as there was a good atmosphere both nights.

Feel that the site is successful because of it's fantastic position, rather than because it's well run. Additionally we were kept awake until 1am by youngsters having a party which the site did nothing to stop.

Finally the welcome was weak, I was left standing for ages to check in and was treated like a nuisance, which was irritating as it's by no means a budget site.

On the plus side their brand new toilet block opened the day we arrived, it's nice and clean although they don't trust you to set the temperature yourself!

All in all we won't return here

Just stayed here for 2 nights as 1st time campers and can highly recommend! Pitched our tents, checked in without fuss or wait (friday teatime).

Currently 2 shower/loo blocks and both I never had to wait to use, there is another block which is built but don't think its connected up. Everything we needed from shop, clubhouse, playground and a gorgeous stream running through. Location fab, lake views and had a super walk to pooley bridge with lunch in beer garden at local pub.

Only downside would be cost-it is a bit more expensive than a lot of other sites we look at but other side is it does offer a lot too. Shop on site and restaurant is also a bit pricey.

As camping virgins we thought this was great though for our first time and our 3year old had a cracking time too so no complaints here. Lovely clean site, staff seemed helpful and friendly and facilities all spot on.

We will def return!

Recently arrived home after 4 days at park foot.

Situated in a lovely area next to ullswater, but that is good as it got, on arrival we thought we had turned up at a pop festival, their was tents in every nook and cranny. At reception we were told to pitch were ever we liked [if you could find any space].

A great site for kids left to run wild as seemed the case, screaming children and noisy teenagers from 7 a. M until well after midnight, toilet blocks very clean and well maintained but at peak times queueing

20 deep in the female toilets, security seen on site which was a good plus.

Sadly will not be returning to this site but ideal for anyone liking lots of noise and camping on top of each other

Me my husband and 3 year old daughter stayed at park foot over the weekend.

What a beautiful place.

When we arrived at reception the staff were very friendly and helpful. They gave us all the information we needed about the site. There is a shop on site which I thought was reasonably priced. There is also a take away on site but we never used it as we had BBQ's. The club house was great, disco and entertainment for the children and Karaoke for adults. The restaurant was quiet nice too.

The views of the lake are amazing, only a short walk from pooley bridge village and 10 minute drive to penrith where there is a super market.

Over all we had a brilliant time, can't fault park foot one bit. We will be definitely be returning very soon

I stayed at this site for three nights during whit week with my partner and two friends and there 1 year old.

Upon arrival we booked in and were directed towards which field we had booked (the field closet to lake - one of many fields) This field was close to the water but across from the main site on the other side of the road, we pitched our tents nearest to the lake which sheep are fenced off in (if camping in this field id recommend not pitching there as the sheep can be noisy and wind from lake was very strong one night - however the field is big enough to pitch elsewhere),

the toilet block on the site was modern and clean (20p per shower however like other reviews the place where you stand to get changed gets wet) this field is large and you can pitch where you like, and come about 2230 when it was dark it was quiet.

The main part of the site looked really good, we used the takeaway for pizza which wasn't the best, didn't use the restaurant, used bar for a drink and sat outside with it, little bit pricey.

There are two separate play areas for kids which we used and were very good. The other fields for camping at the site look very good and all seem to have plenty of room, the other fields up the hill towards the top of the site looked like they gave a lovely view of the lake etc however for us would have been to far away from toilet facilities etc.

The location of the site is nice, on the top of the site there is a pony trekking centre and behind this a pike which we climbed and got an amazing view of the lake. The site itself is about 1 mile from Pooley Bridge. There isn't much there at all, a few cafe's and newsagent and where you can hire/enjoy a boat ride.

Penrith is about 10-15 minuets away, which we dint really like to be honest, we drove to keswick and much preferred there for the day.

This site is very dog friendly with lots of dog owners using the field we stayed in. Would we recommend this site? definitely, however I wouldn't stop there again as I prefer not to stay at same place twice, next time we visit the lakes would go to windermere or somewhere around keswick instead.

The site is very family friendly and would be ideal for families with kids or younger/older campers etc.

Booked to go to Park Foot for the Bank Holiday weekend. The site on booking only took a deposit as we would only lose our deposit should we not turn up. Thought that made sense.

We arrived on a beautiful day, the site was very clean and the grounds fab. We could walk to Ullswater through the site and the kids were delighted with the two play areas. There was entertainment for all, with a take away bar and restaurant. The food was very good, had a more home cooked taste than mass produced.

We were told which field we could pitch in and as we had arrived later we had to find the best position. We probably didn't chose the best spot as we were up high up and the plot not so level. Also it was very windy so we got well blasted.

On inspection of the site, there were some lovely pitches further up the site. These were tree lined with level grass areas. I would definitely go for this plot in future.

Overall, a fab site and location with new toilet blocks being built. It had everything we needed and the kids loved it. Highly recommended.

My partner and I spent the bank holiday weekend at Park Foot. This was our first ever camping experience together and we loved it.

Park Foot is a large family run campsite which has loads of room so we did not feel squashed up at any time. From the moment we arrived the staff at the reception were great and very polite. We stayed in the 'lake side camp site' and in my opinion I am glad we did instead of the 'club house campsite', simply because on the 'club house' side there is a lot going on. For example you have the shop, kids park, take out, club house etc etc, where as the 'lake side' is just fields.

Ullswater lake is a really nice place to chill out and the village of pooley bridge (a 5 minute walk) is a really cute little village with some good pubs and cafe's. The town of Penrith is only a short drive away so is ideal for stocking up on supplies.

The only downside in my opinion to Park Foot is the price. Given that we stayed on a bank holiday weekend we new it would be more expensive, but I feel £84 was a little steep just to pitch a tent, considering how much money we spent in the pub and shop.

Overall I would recommend this site and will certainly be camping here again
